So many things to make life complicated, but I’m realizing it’s really simple things that make me happy. For my birthday recently, all I wanted was to eat out with my husband. And to do so without interruptions of, “hand me Haven’s juice,” “can you help Faith cut that up?” “girls, calm down,” etc., etc.! We’ve been so blessed in our new community to have lots of people volunteer to watch our girls. So, we actually went on a date for my birthday. Amazing. Time to ourselves to talk about whatever we wanted. Really, we didn’t have anything earthshaking to talk about. It was just nice to talk uninterrupted. And, I got to have Ethiopian food–my favorite! It was just the right amount of spice and oh, so yummy. Pretty authentic, too, since half the restaurant was filled with Somalis and Ethiopians.

I’m so blessed and thankful to the Lord for all the things He’s done in me this past year. I pray the year to come is one of falling deeper in love with my Creator.

(And, sadly, although I wanted to post a picture of my hubby and myself, I have none that are semi-decent, as I recently lamented on Facebook!)

  • Happy birthday, Emily!
