If you are friends with me on Facebook, you know that I recently had some amazing pregnancy pictures taken. I have been really excited about them and so happy with how they turned out. I’ve also been in a bit of turmoil since it feels vain to be so excited about pictures of yourself. The more I think about it, though, the more I realize that it’s OK. Having a pregnant belly is a beautiful thing and not something to be ashamed of. Our society is so demeaning to a woman’s body. We perpetuate the belief that skinny is beautiful. Any extra pounds are hated, and with them, the body as a whole. Our bodies, though, are made to carry babies. This is a beautiful thing that God made us for. He obviously made our bodies in a way that we can nourish our unborn child and continue to nourish them after they are born. This is a natural, normal, beautiful thing. I’m so burdened to teach my girls the truth about beauty. I pray that the Lord will continue to reveal the truth to me. Beauty as HE sees it.

Just remind me of all this in about six months when I’m moaning about not being able to lose my “baby weight!” Ha ha!

  • This is so Romans 12:1-2. I really needed to hear this, too. Totally encouraging. You are truly beautiful.

  • you are beautiful! and let me say that you are because you are. preggo or not. 🙂

and posting your pics everywhere only tells your girls that you love who God made you to be. not vanity or arrogance. that you were created by an amazing God who only makes things that are beautiful. 🙂 love you!
