Here’s a picture of the front of our house (sort of like a townhouse, really, since it’s attached to the houses on both sides).  I’ve tried to upload a video tour of the whole house several times, but I can’t get it to work.  Even though our internet connection is pretty fast, it’s not that fast!  So, I’ll post some pictures of the house as we go.  For now, here’s the front, from inside the gate/wall.
These are Pa’s addiction.  He loves them.  They are a non-alcoholic, malt drink that, as the bottle claims, “gives you that mountain-top feeling.”  Thirty-five cents a bottle is a small price to pay for that kind of goodness!  🙂
This is sweet “Laura” with a massive avocado that Pa brought home recently.  I think he paid less than $.50 for it and it was yummy!
This is a collection of some of the things I’ve been making from scratch.  I felt quite proud of myself, but realize now they don’t look as fancy as all those pretty food blogs out there!  Clockwise from the top (in case you were interested!) we have, granola, ketchup, pumpkin, sweetened condensed milk, and mango butter.  By the way, mango butter has been an amazing hit in this house!  We love it on pacakes, French toast, and biscuits.
This is the kitten we rescued from our yard.  Some may say, from the look of this photo (and yes, that is a pink tutu around pour Kia’s neck), that leaving the kitty abandoned to fend for itself might have been the kinder way to go.  If baby-on-the-way turns out to be a boy, he doesn’t stand a chance!
Anyway, there’s a strange look into some of the more mundane things of life here in K-land.
  • I love these pictures!! I have never in my life seen an avocado that big… it could feed an entire family. And, oh my word, that poor adorable kitten… Haha!
How do you make mango butter? I’m pretty sure I would love it!

  • Mango butter–awesome and easy! I couldn’t find a recipe, so I pretty much did what I do to make apple butter. I cut up 4-6 ripe mangoes, add 1/4-1/3 cup sugar, and cook it on low for a while. If I had a crock pot, I’d cook it in that all day. I’ve done it on the stovetop for a few hours, though, and in the oven for a few more hours. Done. 🙂

  • Does anyone else wonder what is in the Malt stuff? We probably don’t want to know 🙂
