I know it’s been a while since I have blogged when I’m shocked at how far along my little “pregnancy ticker” appears! So what’s up with the long abscence? Well, besides the fact that I’m not a great blogger to begin with, add in 2 very busy girls and a very tired mama, and then throw in some major life upheaval and that explains it!
We had planned on returning overseas in early December, when the Lord turned our direction elsewhere. We don’t feel like it’s an end to our time overseas, just a further pause. So, then, the next question was, “well, where do we go now?” The Lord had great plans, like he always does, and sent us to the coldest place on the face of the planet! Ok, so that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but when you have in your mind that your winter is going to be 60s for highs, 40s for lows, then 1 degree for a HIGH is a bit of a shift!! The Lord has a great sense of humor and I think He’s enjoying this one, for sure!
Things are settling right in for us here. We found an apartment fairly quickly and an amazing ministry that supplies furniture to those in need. We were in definite need since we had given away all of our furniture when we made the trek overseas. So, we have furniture, an apartment, and most of our wordly belongings in one place for the first time in what seems like forever, and are now asking, “What now, Lord?!” He is faithful to answer and so the important part is to ask Him for the patience to wait for that answer!
The girls did fairly well for the transition. Faith had a little of, what I like to call, “transitional freak-out,” in which some ugly behaviors pop up to the surface. We do our best to reassure her (and Haven) that all is well, Jesus will care for us, we are together, and that everything will return to “normal” (whatever the heck that is!) sooner or later. She has a period of acting out, and then settles into a routine. She did this when we went overseas and when we returned. Thankfully this bout of “transitional freak-out” has been much shorter lived.
Anyway, here are some fun things the girls are doing now:
Faith is growing so tall and lanky. She loves choosing her own clothes everyday, unfortunately, she chooses the same outfit over and over and over again. I guess she doesn’t need many clothes, just a few outfits she really likes!! Faith is our creative girl and spends lots of her day doing “art projects.” Her best Christmas gifts were her craft box and her easel!
Haven is growing verbally! She is talking in full sentences and loves repeating everything we say. She’s starting to sing songs on her own and is really getting a love for books. She gets really excited about the things she finds in books. She’s also our little cuddler. She loves, loves, loves babies. She’s always playing with babies, wrapping them in blankets, kissing them, “changing” them, etc. She is also getting very funny. She has such a silly sense of humor! Her best Christmas gifts were all her baby dolls and her doll stroller.
Baby in the belly is doing well, too. She’s growing and is set to make her grand entrance somewhere towards the end of February. She is pretty active and is doing a lot of growing, which wears me out. We are still in the process of finding the right midwife to help us bring her into the world.
I hope that’s not too overwhelming of an update!
  • yeah! love the miller updates and LOVE those precious dresses. were those christmas presents?? love you friend and am praying for you guys. 🙂 i’ll call tomorrow-

  • Yep. My mom made the dresses and coordinating sashes and bows. Cause she’s cool like that.

  • Your girls are way cute.

And girl… you are a better woman than I. I would be going through my own, very extended, transitional freakout if I were in a frozen tundra with 1 degree for a high!!!!
    WOW!!!! What is that?

Great update. You lead quite the interesting life, you know. 🙂

    Much love,
    Your friend of a friend.

Maybe one day we’ll meet. But not in that crazy kind of cold! 😉

  • Thanks friend of a friend! The ONLY reason I’m not freaking out over the cold is the big stinkin’ heater I have in my belly. I’m actually pretty warm/hot anytime I’m not outside! We’ll definitely have to meet, but I wouldn’t ask you to leave your warm, happy place to come here!!
